After-Action Assessments

If you’re tapped in with Intuitive Self Protection, then more than likely you’re not going around looking for trouble, but I can bet you probably have deep awareness of how being prepared can make a huge difference in urgent situations. Let’s say you’ve had extensive training in various areas of self-defense, and you’ve found yourself in a situation where you had to put all that training to use. The real work starts after it’s over. You have to figure out what worked, what didn’t, and how you can make sure you’re sharper next time. An After-Action Assessment is an important tool in your self-defense toolbox where you take time to review your actions. It reinforces positive behaviors and exposes weaknesses. This simple tool could have a major impact on your future safety

Asking the Hard Questions

We know that every fight teaches you something. After-Action Assessments are like personal debriefs where you ask yourself and answer the tough questions with no sugarcoating. You want to reflect on what went right, what could be improved, and how you reacted under pressure. Questions like: Did I follow your training? Did I hesitate? Did I stay focused? Were there any gaps in my preparedness or awareness? Could I have done something better? Asking yourself these questions gives you valuable insights that can help fine-tune your responses for future situations. So don’t shortchange yourself, if you get in a situation, do the assessment and see what you discover. If you’ve had a past situation where details are fresh in mind, it’s not too late to do an assessment. These are a must for growth and learning.
