The level 1 Protective Pistol Course is unique in it that once you leave the deck you will have experienced a training evolution that will not only stay with you but radically change your view of what self-protection really means. You’ll have the same core components taught to special forces operators in the pistol craft arena.

These are the vital few things that make all the difference to your performance under stress and pressure. Many courses of instruction go so slow and provide so much detail on things that just don’t matter when it comes to combat performance or life-threatening stress events.

At the end of each day, you will run through a REAL-WORLD course of fire that ties in directly to the theme of the course (workplace, home, personal).

This course’s theme is how to defend against threats while managing the chaos of crowded people rich environments… we’re calling this course “Urban Chaos”!!

If you have ever studied history or even just pay attention to the news you will see countless examples of the chaos that comes from crowds of people once stuff hits the fan. If you find yourself caught in a active shooter event, riot, or any type civil unrest that turns violent it is your responsibility, duty, and obligation to maintain a cool head and protect yourself and your loved ones while getting to safety. If that means using your pistol for self defense it is imperative that you have the situational awareness and wherewithal to call shoot or no shoot based on your environment and location of innocent bystanders. If you think you’ll know what to do without training for it… think again!

WHAT TO EXPECT & WHAT YOU WILL LEARN.

Day 1 of ISP Firearms Course

Define the necessary mindset and fundamentals of Protective defensive pistol craft skill.

• Mindset versus technique.

• Weapons grip.

• Trigger control.

• Rapid sight acquisition.

• Rapid engagements from ready positions and off “X” skills.

• Recoil control to develop an efficient shooting skill set.

• We will discuss the differences of static, dynamic and instinctive.

• Effective carry positions.

• Mastering the draw.

• Two-handed shooting, strong hand only shooting.

• Support-hand only draw techniques.

• Engage targets that are not in their initial field of view from the draw.  

This course is designed for the normal everyday person.

Please do NOT show up with a war belt, drop leg holster, plate carrier, chest rig, competition belt or any other high-speed kit unless you wear that type of setup on a regular basis. A complete gear list will be emailed to you once you enroll however the basic requirements will be:

• A good serviceable Pistol in good working order.

• A sturdy quality made Outside the Waistband Holster that is able to secure your pistol when holstered. NO SERPA HOLSTERS.

  ***Concealed carry holsters are allowed only if you are able to use one safely. If an Instructor feels you are unsafe you will be asked to switch to an outside the waist band holster. If you are certifying for your concealed handgun permit you will be required to draw from a concealed carry holster.

• Magazine Pouch (you need to have a way of securing magazines to your person).

• A good sturdy belt (a normal belt is not designed to carry the weight of a gun and will not give you a solid platform to draw from a holster).

• 800 rounds of whatever caliber your pistol is chambered in (we may shoot less but 800 will cover you).

• If you are having trouble finding ammo because of the recent shortage please feel free to reach out to us. We can get you in contact with one of our local vendors that have what you need in stock at special pricing available only for registered ISP Students.

• 4 double stack magazines (minimum) 8 single stack magazines (you don’t want to be constantly having to top off your magazines during the middle of training)

***This is a rain or shine training evolution. It would only be delayed or rescheduled due to a major storm or catastrophic event. There are no course refunds, rollovers, or rescheduling.
