A Military Wife’s Journey to Self-Protection
You asked for it and we delivered. You’ve previously heard from two of ISP’s All Access Members who shared their self-protection journeys with you. Now we’re bringing you a woman’s perspective. We had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with Kristin Vitalis; a woman who didn’t come to us out of fear but the desire to be prepared. Her story is a testament to the transformation that happens when you decide to take control of your safety.
Seeking Self Protection Training
The decision for Kristin to seek self-protection was a decision rooted in responsibility. Kristin, being a military housewife and mother of small children with extended periods of her husband being away, realized that the way things are going in our world, she needed to know how to protect herself and children. For her, being prepared was not just a choice but a necessity.

From Overwhelmed to Empowered
Kristin came to ISP starting from scratch. Her first training experience was a two-day immersive Defensive Measures Empty Hand course. She continued her training with private firearm classes and moved into the group classes. Kristen has taken several classes in ISP’s Protective Pistol Course which includes Home & Office Structures, In & Around Vehicles, and the Active Shooter Course. She’s even taken several Empty Hand Courses since her first one.
Kristin went from feeling overwhelmed by the enormity of the knowledge to having a newfound confidence. The training not only equipped her with awareness and effective physical skills, but also fortified and expanded her mindset of being a protector. With Intuitive Self Protection’s training, she discovered how to flip that switch to go full mama bear and protect herself and cubs.
Being More Aware in Everyday Activities
For Kristin, being a mom with all this knew knowledge meant redefining even the mundane tasks. She gained more self and situational awareness and shared how she positions her grocery cart strategically when out with her children and she’s even teaching her daughter about situational awareness. It's not just about physical skills which she’s gained; it's about a complete mindset shift, allowing her to navigate the world as a protector.
A Message to All Moms
To other moms out there, Kristin's message is clear: don't wait. The world is changing, and being proactive about your safety is not just an option; it's a responsibility. Taking that first step might seem daunting but find instructors who will meet you where you are.
Conclusion
Kristin's story is a beacon of strength. It highlights the transformation that occurs when a person decides to become their family's protector. So, if you're a mom or anyone feeling the weight of responsibility, you're not alone. Join our community at Intuitive Self Protection, where strength is not just physical, it’s a state of mind.
